Some Injuries Don’t Show Up Right Away After a Wreck

The impact that a car wreck has your body can lead to very serious injuries. In some cases, the effects of the crash on your body aren’t going to be noticed for a few days after the wreck. You must ensure that you are watching for signs that something is wrong.

Headaches after a car crash are fairly common but if they don’t abate after a bit, this could mean that you have a brain injury or a blood clot on your brain. You should visit your doctor if you have a headache that just won’t go away.

Another possible problem to watch for is internal injuries in the abdominal area. If you have pain in that area, an evaluation might be in order. Also watch for bruising, fainting or dizziness, which could signal that you might have internal bleeding.

Neck and back pain can also be a sign that something is amiss. Whiplash and spinal cord injuries are both possible. These require very different treatments, be sure to be as specific as possible about the type and location of pain when you head to the doctor.

You should also pay close attention to numbness and weakness, which might be the result of something related to the nerves or the spinal cord. Changes in your personality or mood should also be addressed as soon as possible since these may mean that you have some emotional trauma from the wreck.

Once you determine what injuries you have, you can seek compensation for those injuries. You don’t have unlimited time since there is a statute of limitations on these types of cases.
