Motorcyclist Killed When Driver Loses Control on I-70

Motorcycles are one of the most popular ways to get around Missouri. From the crowded streets of St. Louis to the rolling fields in the central part of the state, the roads seem to cry out for the freedom and openness of biking.

Unfortunately, the advantages and enjoyments of motorcycles come with their share of hazards. Bikes of all types are smaller than cars and trucks, making them harder to see. The lack of outside protection means that even minor collisions could result in severe injury, permanent disability or death.

Bikers are often more in danger to drivers’ negligence. A rider was killed and another is in critical condition after the driver of a sport utility vehicle struck their motorcycle head-on. The accident closed a section of Interstate 70 in Manchester for three hours while the crash scene was investigated and cleared.

Police report that the SUV was eastbound entering the interstate when the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle. It then crossed the westbound half of the highway and smashed through the concrete barrier in the middle of the road to hit the eastbound motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle died at the scene, while the passenger suffered critical injuries and the driver of the SUV received injuries believed not to be life-threatening.

The victims of motorcycle accidents and their survivors may sue the responsible parties to help set a family right after a tragedy. Legal representation often increases a plaintiff’s chances of success in a lawsuit. An attorney may also help identify all the parties responsible.
