David Steelman was born in Columbia, Missouri. Mr. Steelman graduated summa cum laude with an Economics degree from the University of Missouri - Columbia and graduated cum laude and first in his class in law school to complete his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri Columbia School of Law in 1978. He was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 1978. He is licensed to practice in the state of Missouri and U.S. District Court, Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri. Mr. Steelman was a Phi Beta Kappa, a member of Order of the Coif, Editor of the Missouri Law Review from 1977-1978 and authored "Constitutional Law in Personam Jurisdiction in Missouri". Mr. Steelman is a member of the Phelps County and American Bar Associations. He is a member of the Missouri Bar and a member of the American Association for Justice, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, and the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Mr. Steelman's law practice focuses primarily in: Products Liability, Commercial Law and Professional Liability. He has won a number of multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements in the areas of product liability, utility negligence, medical malpractice, railroad crossing, and trucking litigation. In 1978, Mr. Steelman was elected to the first of three terms in the Missouri General Assembly. After his first term, he was elected Minority Floor Leader at the age of 27.
